Jurgow's costumes are Spisz in origin and differ from those of the nearby Podhale area. A variety of Jurgow costumes are shown below.

In this picture you can see a variety of Jurgow costumes. Starting from the left: The Young Man's Costume - includes a simple hat and a waistcoat (originally called a "serdok"). Mounted man from Jurgow	The best man's costume was first usually worn only for weddings, but later also for big celebrations. In this picture on the right is the traditional best man costume being worn on the occasion of driving the Roman Catholic Bishop into Jurgow.
These pictures are from shows featuring Jurgow's folklore group. The group has been dancing for many years. Soon there will be a problem because not as many young people today are interested in folklore. Jurgow's folklore group now travels just in Poland. More about folklore group ...

Jurgow's Music.

In Jurgow we also have wonderful music. Jurgow's musicians play music throughout Polish Spisz and also the Podhale area. In the past they have traveled with the folklore group to other European countries like Austria, Slovakia, Bulgaria, etc. We have prepared some examples of Jurgow's music here. (Some parts are not of the best quality, but we will soon have some better recordings to share.)
