He was born September 11, 1921 in Jurgów, died 8 February 2007. Wife: Karolina Wojtas (Caroline Wojtas), children: Mary (teacher), Helen (creator of folk art), Marta (creator of the folk art). Professional woodcarving activities began around 1950, initially pursued a number of objects made of wood decorated with carving, mainly household utensils: spoons, salt shakers, buckets, butter containers, shelves, tables, chairs, chests. These products are decorated with traditional folk decoration decorative sculptures are an example of a good standard. Peak achievements of the artist was carving figural themes, both sacred (Pensive Christ, Pieta, St. Florian), satirical, lifestyle and rural areas.

In 1960, Andrew Gombos organized in Jurgów workshop in carpentry, woodcarving, which trained in the craft of woodworking more than a dozen boys. Devoted much time to them, give guidance, material and tools. Under his influence the boys began to carry in a wood reliefs and small figures. Organized in 1963 by the Tatra Museum exhibition of sculpture of students A. Gombos, met with interest in the artistic community. After the closure of the exhibition part of the work was purchased Tatra Museum. The second school of sculpture he founded in 1969.
